Making simply sublime designsPublished 12:24pm Thursday, October 24, 2013
CLARKS GROVE — Simply Sublime Gifts started in Diane Munson’s garage in Albert Lea. It quickly outgrew the small space.
The company, which provides personalized gifts and is based in Clarks Grove, has been in business for 10 years. Munson has one full-time employee and one part-time.
She said she made the move to Clarks Grove to share a space with her husband, who owns Munson’s Body Shop.
“He cleared out an area in his shop and that’s where we’ve been doing it for the past nine years,” Munson said.
Munson has been interested in making personalized decorations, but custom printing things is a new hobby.
“I used to do personalized hand-painted signs and gift cards and things like that,” Munson said, adding that she then became interested in printing things. “So I purchased my first printer and started off with the basic products that they offered and then learned how I could take it a little bit farther with my own products.”
And take it farther she did.
“Now I do my own designs, T-shirts, clocks and cake pans and everything else,” Munson said. “We kind of started out with the basic products like mugs and mousepads and then took it on a lot farther to make it a one-of-a-kind personalized product.”
Clocks and cake pans are only the beginning, too. The company offers an array of products: photo albums, baby items, throw blankets, signs, welcome mats, keepsake boxes, frames, bags, laptop sleeves and even flip-flops. Every item available can be personalized and can be ordered online at simply-sublime.com. It is preffered that orders be made online, payments can be made by Visa, MasterCard or Discover card.
“People can buy things for their weddings or for a new baby, and they can completely personalize it with the baby’s name, birthday and a special saying,” Munson said. “Just anything to commemorate a special occasion.”
Munson said that the number of orders they get depends heavily on the season, with Christmas time obviously being one of their busiest seasons. Shipping is available to anywhere in the world. Munson said they send a lot of orders to Canada and Australia. Orders must be made by Dec. 13 to guarantee delivery by Christmas.
