Politicians don’t seem to care

I am writing this letter as one of the 800,000 “nonessential” federal employees.

As such, I am now not able to go to work and make a living at the job I love doing. I have been a mechanic for 20-plus years, and now, due to politics, I and many others are being affected by the decisions of our elected officials who are in office to represent us. So far on most all of the various channels I have been watching, it has been a reoccurring theme, Democrats and Republicans. I am 47 years old and never have I seen such behavior from individuals who seem to have forgotten that they are elected. Instead this has become what looks like a lot of grandstanding and playground bullying by individuals who are more worried about party lines and placing blame.

Whatever happened to doing the right thing for the majority and not the party? Politicians seem to be doing what they and their groups in Washington want to do. Their pay is protected. They have insurance. They have plenty of perks just being in their position and none of it is affected while the rest of us go with out pay till they make a decision. I seriously think they have lost touch with life outside of Washington. But when this is all over they will go back to polishing their silver spoons and continue on with business.
