More babies were born in Austin during 2013 than in Albert Lea, according to a news release issued Monday from Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin.
The release stated 814 babies were born at both locations. Of that total, Albert Lea had 390 babies and Austin 424.
Of the 814 born, 422 of the babies were girls, outnumbering the boys by 31.
“We continue to strive to give our patients the safest and most-customized care possible,” said Nancy Hoversten, nurse manager at Austin’s Women’s Special Care Unit.
The most popular girl’s name in Albert Lea was Olivia, while the most popular boy’s name was Wyatt.
In Austin, the most popular was Emma, while Jackson took the top spot for boys.
