Albert Lea girls fall at Rochester John Marshall

Cold shooting doomed the Albert Lea girls’ basketball team Monday at Rochester John Marshall.

The Rockets shot 46 percent from the field; the Tigers shot 24 percent.

Rochester John Marshall defeated Albert Lea 63-41.

The Tigers trailed 28-17 at halftime.

Bryn Woodside led Albert Lea with 17 points, three assists and five steals. Sydney Rehnelt added 14 points and was four of six from beyond the arc. Aside from Rehnelt, the Tigers made one of 12 3-pointers.

Megan Kortan led Albert Lea on the glass with eight rebounds to go with five points.

The Tigers shot well from the free-throw line, going 10 of 12.

Rochester John Marshall (12-7 overall, 10-2 Big Nine Conference) is second in the conference standings.

Albert Lea (6-11 overall, 4-8 Big Nine Conference) is eighth in the conference standings and will play next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rochester Mayo.

The Spartans (8-9 overall, 6-5 Big Nine Conference) defeated the Tigers 52-46 on Jan. 3.
