Kudos to CVS for dropping smokes

On Feb. 5, CVS Pharmacy announced they will stop selling tobacco products as of Oct. 1, 2014.

Larry Merlo, president and CEO stated, “Ending the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products at CVS Pharmacy is the right thing for our customers and company. Put simply, the sale of tobacco products is inconsistent with our purpose.”

We congratulate CVS for putting health before profits as it has been a source of $2 billion in annual revenue for the company. Our nation’s health will be stronger because of this bold move.
