Memorial services for Leonard Stevens, 87, of Austin will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Al Stoa will officiate. Interment will be at Clarks Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations, VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Leonard died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Cedars of Austin.

Leonard Ernest Stevens was born Feb. 13, 1927, to Ray and Henriette (Oudekerk) Stevens in Rose Creek. Leonard attended school in Cumberland, Wis. In 1945, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army, serving during World War II. On March 23, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Olson in Hayward. Leonard was the owner of Stevens Window and the Clarks Grove Golf Course. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles and Albert Lea Sportsman’s Club where he volunteered for Take A Kid Fishing. Leonard enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering. In his younger years he enjoyed baseball and football.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy Stevens; son, John (Mary) Stevens; special friend, Justine VanRyswk; grandchildren, Jamie (Jessica) Stevens, Holly Jackson, Ben Haukoos, Sarah Haukoos and Samantha Haukoos; great-grandchildren, Skyler and Braden; sister, Evelyn (Dewayne) Dean; brother, Bob (Deanna) Stevens and many nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; son, Gary Stevens; brother, Lawrence Stevens and sister, Marcella Curly.
