Wa Tan Ye Service Club

President Dorothy Wedge called the May meeting to order. Roll call was taken and there were eight members present.

Alice Petersen read the minutes of the last meeting. She also gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved and placed on file. There was no correspondence to be read.

The Wa Tan Ye members ushered for Albert Lea Community Theater play on the opening night. We collected $25 for the food shelf.

Plans were worked on for the convention in October. Around 70 are expected to come from the other Wa Tan clubs.

The meeting was adjourned. Alice Petersen was the hostess for the meeting. The meeting will be June 2.

 

Freeborn County Genealogical Society

The Freeborn County Genealogical Society met April 14 at the Freeborn County Historical Museum. The program was “Genealogical Documentation: The What, Why, Where, and How” by Thomas W. Jones, recorded Aug. 23, 2013, at the FGS Conference in Fort Wayne, Ind. Permission was given to Valerie Eichler Lair to monitor the recording for the meeting.

The next meeting is at  7 p.m. May 12 at the museum. The program will be an archived Legacy Webinar on “Timelines and Chronologies: Secrets of Success” by Geoff Rasmussen.

 

National Active & Retired Employees

NARFE, Chapter 469, met April 8 at Pizza Ranch in Austin. James Fett, Mower County Soil and Water, showed slides and spoke about Mower County’s tree program and rain gardens. Committee reports were given. Items were collected for the Alzheimer’s silent auction to be held at the State Convention May 20 and 21 at the Holiday Inn in Owatonna.
