To the graduates of local and area schools, we throw our caps in the air in celebration of your academic, athletic and artistic achievements.

With Albert Lea High School students graduating Friday, and many students from other high schools graduating in recent weeks, the area, the state, the nation and perhaps the world, will experience their influence in the next decade or two.

This year’s ALHS graduates set a positive tone and a high bar for their underclass mates, according to school leaders, and we can expect that trend to continue as they move on to meet their higher educational goals.

After their college days are over, and once they have established themselves in careers, the community usually sees a few return to their hometowns to lead in various capacities. Some of these graduates may make their mark on the national and international stage and we will all claim, with pride, they came from our town.

As these graduates head out into the world, we all have reason to be proud and hold high hopes for their success as our future leaders. Congratulations, graduates.
