Ruby’s Pantry was worth the price

I would like to answer the letter to the editor about Ruby’s Pantry that was printed last week.

My son and I were there this last Saturday, and, yes, we had to wait on the hill for a half hour. I saw people who were handicapped being let in off of the parking lot, so they did not have to climb the hill.

We waited in line and once we got inside and registered, we waited for our number to be called, which was within 15 minutes. From start to finish, it took one hour and 15 minutes to wait, register and get his food.

I think what he received was well worth the $20. I don’t understand what the letter writer was complaining about, because we thought he got a lot of food for that $20.

I think this program is well worth the effort, and I applaud the volunteers and the church for doing this for our community.

I guess you just can’t please everyone every time. Take your $20 to the store and show me how you can buy all of the food he received, and I’ll starting shopping there, too.

And if you don’t think this is a worthwhile program, just know that any food left over is given to the food pantries in the area, so others benefit, also.
