Man arrested for DWI after crash

CLARKS GROVE — Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies arrested Mitchell Gene Harig, 47, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after a motorcycle crash at 7:49 p.m. Saturday at 29419 Freeborn County Road 45, Clarks Grove.

 

Vehicles reported stolen

A moped was reported stolen at 9:56 a.m. Tuesday from 214 E. Fifth St. in Albert Lea.

A motor vehicle was reported stolen at 2:27 p.m. Saturday from 305 Central Ave. S., Hollandale. It was taken sometime Friday night.

 

Thefts reported

Items were reported missing from a car at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday at 139 E. William St. in Albert Lea.

Albert Lea police received a report of a theft at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave. A woman reportedly took shoes and undergarments. A separate theft was reported at 7:36 p.m. involving three people.

A fuel tank was reported stolen from off of a boat sometime between Saturday night and Tuesday evening at 702 Garfield Ave. Total loss was estimated at $20.

A theft from a motor vehicle was reported at 9:19 p.m. Tuesday at 1105 Bridge Ave.

 

3 cited for assault

HAYWARD — One person was cited for fifth-degree assault at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday at Hayward Group Home, 80880 Freeborn County Road 46. A name or age was not listed in the Sheriff’s Office logs.

Deputies arrested Christopher Steven Kartak, 45, for gross misdemeanor domestic assault at 7:56 p.m. Saturday at 27663 770th Ave., Clarks Grove.

Police arrested Manuel Velez, 27, for domestic assault at 6:35 p.m. Sunday at 621 Hope Lane, Albert Lea.

 

Man arrested for burglary

Albert Lea police arrested Derek Anthony Navarro, 22, for burglary and fleeing on foot at 12:30 a.m. Sunday at 719 Marshall St. Police also arrested Ashley Marie Vellarde, 27, for disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process.

 

Dog attacks reported

Police cited Christian Jeanein Benner, 25, for dogs at large after two pit bulls reportedly attacked a dog in a yard at 3:18 p.m. Sunday at 919 E. Hawthorne St. in Albert Lea. Reports indicated police were planning to serve a dangerous dog declaration.

Police received a report at 4:19 p.m. Sunday of another dog that was attacked by a neighbor dog at 815 S. Broadway. The same papers were expected to be served.

 

1 cited for marijuana

Albert Lea police cited Trevor Scot Krahn, 18, for a small amount of marijuana after receiving a report at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday of two males smoking something from a pipe at 900 Hammer Road.

 

Break-in reported

A break-in was reported at 6:08 p.m. Friday at 89844 State Line Road in London Township.

 

Damage reported

A mirror was reported broken off of a pickup at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday at 423 Court St. in Albert Lea. Damage was estimated at $50.

A mailbox was reported damaged at 6:22 a.m. Tuesday at 1211 Lakewood Ave.

The back door at 135 S. Broadway was reported damaged at 1:42 p.m. Sunday.

Albert Lea police received a report at 12:28 a.m. Sunday of a car that was written on with offensive words at 917 Jefferson Ave.

 

2 cited for underage drinking

Deputies cited Anna Mae Schlaak, 20, for underage drinking at 2:21 a.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Central Ave., Geneva.

Albert Lea police cited a 17-year-old boy for underage drinking after a traffic stop at 10:37 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Hillhaven Street and West Main Street.
