Art on Main project returning to Zumbrota

ZUMBROTA — The second annual Art on Main project culminates in an online auction of original art and the banners that have graced Zumbrota’s downtown Main Street all summer. The auction, sponsored by Zumbrota Area Arts Council, ends on the evening of Sept. 26. At the same time as the auctions end online, a gala will be in full swing at the VFW banquet hall. The gala begins at 6:30 p.m. and all of the banners and original work will be on display for viewing and bidding.

In spring, 25 artists donated their work to be printed onto banners. Funds raised through the auction of the artworks and banners support ZAAC’s efforts to renovate the historic State Theatre, which has become a hub of community arts activities, from concerts to plays to vintage movies.

The gala will feature live music by the ’40s CBB Jazz Group, dancing, food and wine, and attendees will be able to bid on artful experiences as well as join in the excitement of the final flurry of bids in the online auctions. The auctions of original artwork end at 7:30 p.m. and those of the banners end at 8 p.m. Entry to the event at the VFW is $18 and tickets are available at Wild Ginger, All in Stitches and Crossings.
