Hagedorn reflects District 1 values

As I follow politics and the reporting about Jim Hagedorn’s past political blogs, I feel the need to set a few matters straight.

While I do not condone the remarks, Jim has said that he wrote them, he owns them and he has apologized for them. Not many politicians have the courage to own up to their mistakes, which occurred several years ago.

To the credit of Tim Walz and Jim Hagedorn, neither candidate has made any personal attacks on each other.

That being said, Jim Hagedorn is the GOP candidate and is my candidate to support. He earned the primary victory with hard work, taking nothing for granted, meeting people the length and breadth of the 1st District, answering any questions asked of him and letting the public know that he cares about them. He will be out campaigning to talk about the issues, i.e., Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, as well as EPA, the VA scandal, IRS, Benghazi and other foreign affairs, etc.

In the days and weeks to come, these subjects will be brought to the public to decide the direction the country will be heading. It is then up to the media, both print and television, to fairly present both sides of the issue for the public to view.

I would remind the voters of the 1st Congressional District that this race is about our future.

It should be decided on the issues and the recorded votes on legislation that affects all of us in our personal lives. Everyone who is elected to Congress needs to be someone who represents our values and our needs, regardless of party affiliation.
