ST. PAUL — Authorities have charged a St. Paul man who they said stabbed four men and his girlfriend at her birthday party.

Twenty-six year-old Dashawn Williams was charged with five felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault by strangulation. He was being held in the Ramsey County Jail on Wednesday on $100,000 bond.

Police said the male victims approached officers who responded to a 911 call Monday. One of the men said Williams accused his girlfriend of cheating on him. She said he choked her so hard she became lightheaded, and he had done so more than 50 times before.

The men told officers they were trying to protect her. They were taken to area hospitals in unreported conditions.
