JORDAN — Authorities have charged a Twin Cities man who they said hit his pregnant girlfriend in the head with a gun at a church homeless shelter.

Authorities said they found Herring the next day hiding in a dryer in a Minneapolis home after locating an acquaintance’s stolen car at the residence.

Police said the attack stemmed from an argument Herring and the woman had two days earlier in which he accused her of cheating. She said she is five months pregnant with his child.

Herring is being held in the Scott County jail on $500,000 bond. Online jail records didn’t indicate an attorney.
