Winter weather advisory issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Freeborn County tonight with anywhere between 3 and 5 inches of snow possible.

Snow is expected to begin across southern Minnesota between 6 and 9 p.m. and taper off early Saturday morning.

The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. today to 9 a.m. Saturday, according to the Twin Cities and Chanhassen bureaus of the National Weather Service.

Driving conditions may become difficult as roads become snow covered.

The temperature today is forecast at a high of 33 degrees and a low of 25 degrees. Chance of precipitation tonight is 90 percent.

Temperatures are expected to decrease in the next three to four days until they dip below zero Monday night. The high on Tuesday is projected at 6 degrees.
