The Jefferson Lines bus stop in Albert Lea has moved to Burger King, according to a news release from the company.

The shift, from the former Ole’s Eastside Shell, took place on Friday.

“We’re very excited for the new partnership with Burger King and feel fortunate they’re so close to our old location,” said Kevin Pursey, marketing director for Jefferson Lines. “This makes the change more convenient for our customers and allows us to continue to serve Albert Lea well.”

Though the physical location of the Albert Lea stop is changing, all route schedules will remain the same, he said. Burger King began selling tickets Tuesday.

The change came as Casey’s General Store purchased Ole’s Eastside Shell in December.

The bus stop had been in Albert Lea at the Shell station for at least 16 years.

Bob Musil, business development manager for Jefferson Lines, said the partnership with Burger King provides “exceptional customer care and numerous food options.”

Albert Lea City Manager Chad Adams applauded Jefferson Lines for finding another location in the city.

“We are particularly grateful to Burger King in Albert Lea for working with Jefferson Lines to maintain this important transportation service in our community,” Adams said. “The continued bus service will continue to provide benefits to residents of Albert Lea, the region and to many others traveling to and through Albert Lea.”

Named after the Jefferson Highway — a north-south automobile highway that ran from Winnipeg, Canada, south to New Orleans — Jefferson Lines has service in 13 states, according to its website. It serves over 160 communities nationwide, with connections to thousands of destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The Albert Lea stop can be reached at 373-3365.
