MAHTOMEDI — Flowers, candles and hand-written messages were left outside the bar owned by a popular high school teacher who was fatally shot over the weekend in suburban St. Paul.

Patrons and staff at Frigaard’s bar in Willernie said they consider themselves family, so the death of David Frigaard was especially hard. The 46-year-old art teacher at Park High School in Cottage Grove was killed early Saturday morning outside the bar. Police have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder. But authorities have not yet released their theory on a motive.

Park High School administrators had a plan to support grieving students returning for classes today. Frigaard was married and has three children.
