Shots fired through two trailers

At least one bullet travels into neighboring residence

Albert Lea police are investigating a report of multiple bullets shot through two trailers on Gene Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The bullets were targeted at a trailer at 1101 Gene Ave. and at least one bullet went through the residence and into a second trailer next door at 1007 Gene Ave, according to J.D. Carlson, deputy director of police with the Albert Lea Police Department.

Both trailers were occupied at the time the shots were fired, but no one was injured.

Police stated they were alerted to the gunshots at 9:08 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of criminal damage to property.

Upon further investigation, they discovered the shots went into a second residence.

Interviews suggest that at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, residents heard suspected fireworks or electrical noises nearby but did not report the sounds to authorities.

Police were only contacted after the residents found the damage to the property.

The incident remains under investigation with attempts being made to identify a suspect, according to police.
