Kathryn Staver and Olaf Samuelson, both of Overland Park, Kansas, were married at 1 pm. Sept. 27, 2014, at St. Mary’s Church in Galena, Illinois, in a double ring ceremony. A reception followed at Turner Hall in Galena.

Kathryn is the daughter of Thomas and Julie Staver of  Galena and is the granddaughter of the late David and Joanne Foecking of Galena and Jane Staver and the late Richard Staver of Galena.

Olaf is the son of Timothy and Jane Samuelson of Albert Lea and is the grandson of the late Wesley and Elizabeth Kegel of Blue Earth and Paul Samuelson and the late Edith Samuelson of St. Paul.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Galena High School and got her Bachelor of Arts in biology and environmental studies from St. Olaf College in 2010 and her Master of Science in environmental science from Ohio University in 2012. She is currently an environmental scientist at Burns & McDonnell Engineering in Kansas City, Missouri.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of Albert Lea High School and got his Bachelor of Arts in film studies from St. Olaf College in 2010  and is doing pre-medical coursework at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is currently a chemistry teaching assistant at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

The maid of honor was Elizabeth (Staver) Freund, sister of the bride, of Dubuque, Iowa. Bridesmaids were Laura Staver, sister of the bride, of Galena, Emily Tremblay, friend of the bride, of Duluth, Lori (Kukkonen) Shelton, of Coon Rapids, and Karla (Borsdorf) Schardt, friend of the bride, of Portage, Wisconsin. The personal attendant was Jane Newton, friend of the bride, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The best man was Carl Samuelson, brother of the groom, of St. Paul. Groomsmen were Andy Stapleton, friend of the groom, of Minneapolis, Matt Giesendorfer-Lindgren, friend of the groom, of Maple Grove, Ben Matheson, friend of the groom, of Bethel, Alaska, and Dan Pohlman, friend of the groom, of New York.

Ushers were Ben Clarkson, brother-in-law of the groom, of Rochester, Gabe Freund, brother-in-law of the bride, of Dubuque, and Michael Staver, brother of the bride, of Galena.

The ring bearer was Liam Samuelson, nephew of the groom, of St. Paul, the son of Carl and Meredith (Shay) Samuelson.

The organist was Michael Schaner of Willmar.

Readers were Anne (Samuelson) Clarkson, sister of the groom, Meredith (Shay) Samuelson, sister-in-law of the groom, and Janet (Foecking) Bakes, aunt of the bride.
