Following a pair of seasons in different sections, the Alden-Conger baseball and softball teams will both compete in Section 1A for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

Section alignment occurs every two years, and the last cycle for 2013-14 and 2014-15 had the Knights baseball team in Section 2A and the softball team in Section 1A. The softball team played against 18 section opponents, and the baseball team played against 18 different section opponents.

With the sections scheduled for 2015-16 and 2016-17, Alden-Conger’s baseball and softball teams will have 14 of 15 common opponents. The only difference between the baseball and softball sections are the addition of Glenville-Emmons for softball and not baseball and Schaeffer Academy for baseball and not softball.

Although the Knights softball team’s 2016-17 and 2017-18 section looks similar to the 2013-14 and 2014-15 section with 12 common opponents, the baseball team only has two common opponents: Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and United South Central.

“It’s a matter of getting to know the teams,” said Alden-Conger softball coach Gary Nelson. “I would like to see it become more stable.”

The Knights also compete in boys’ and girls’ golf in the spring. Alden-Conger will remain in Section 2A for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. The only change from the 2013-14 and 2014-15 version of Section 2A is that the section will shrink from 16 teams to 14. Bethlehem Academy will move to Section 1A, and Martin County West will jump to Section 3AA.
