Freeborn American Legion Auxiliary

The Freeborn American Legion Auxiliary had their monthly meeting Feb. 14. President Sandy Anderson called the meeting to order. The pledges were recited and Anderson read a prayer. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved. Anderson asked for money to buy stamps. This was motioned and approved.

The results from the soup and pie/dessert supper were discussed. The number of people attending was down from last year. It was decided that the number of pies/desserts were the correct amount. Everyone agreed that the idea of offering desserts along with pie seemed to work out well. The possibility of moving the date back a week was discussed and will be decided upon in the fall.

The next sewing date for the community sewing group will be at 9 a.m. March 17 at the Freeborn Legion hall. This will be the last gathering until next fall. At the February gathering there were 10 quilts tied along with some heart pillows being stuffed. The group would like to thank Viola Krogsgaard for organizing this sewing group and would like to send out a thank you to the ladies who are helping with the sewing.

Anderson announced that the annual reports would be completed at the March meeting. All members should be gathering their information so that the reports can be completed in a timely manner. Anderson went through some of the reports to give members information that will be needed.

It was decided to leave the annual dues the same as last year. Since both the national and the department dues have stayed the same, there was no reason to raise the dues. They will remain at $20.

Anderson stated that a Girls State invitation had been sent out but no response had been received as of this date. She also read points of interest from the department mailing.

With no other business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. March 21 at the Freeborn Legion hall.

It should be a great time for everyone. Please watch the Fraternal Herald for further information.
