Business aims for quality service, good treatment

Next year, Clothing Care Center in Albert Lea will celebrate 30 years of ownership under one family.

The business was established in 1980 and was purchased by Russ and Gladys Heys in 1986.

The Heys’ daughter, president-day owner Robin Carstens, said she loved the business from the first day and worked there as often as she could. After graduating college and teaching for a year, she started as manager and bought the business in 2008.

Clothing Care Center provides expert full-service dry cleaning and shirt laundry, wedding dress preservation, drape and pillow cleaning and hand washing, which is a relatively new part of the business. It also offers pickup and delivery in Albert Lea and at Hy-Vee in Austin and the two Hy-Vee stores in Mason City.

The business is environmentally friendly with an eighth-generation dry-cleaning machine and a new washing machine that conserves energy, water and uses environmentally friendly soap.

Carstens said the company’s prices, quality of service, timely turnaround and outstanding employees set it apart from other companies. It also strives for friendly and courteous treatment of customers. She said the company values its customers above all.

In the upcoming year, the business hopes to continue to educate its employees in new technology and new ways to continue with the service it already provides.
