One person was still in serious condition Tuesday afternoon after a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday evening about a mile south of Hayward.

Jacob Garrison, 31, of Glenville, was taken by Mayo 3 to St. Marys Hospital with unknown injuries after the crash. The condition report came from a hospital spokeswoman.

Garrison was traveling with his fiance, Elizabeth Zwinger, at the time of the crash

Zwinger, 33, also of Glenville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

When first responders were dispatched to 810th Avenue at 9:50 p.m., Garrison was able to tell them they were heading north, according to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office news release. He said the deer “came out of nowhere” and they hit the deer.

The two were ejected from the motorcycle.

Neither was reportedly wearing a helmet.

According to the release, when deputies and emergency medical responders arrived, they saw a male standing on the side of a road and a female laying on the west side of the road.

The motorcycle was laying in the middle of the road and a deer was laying on the east side of the road.

Speed and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, according to the release.

The street is also known as Freeborn County Road 26.
