Northwood to celebrate Fourth of July weekend

A weekend of activities have been planned in Northwood as part of their annual Fourth of July celebration.

The events start at 1 p.m. Friday with the NKCEF golf tournament at the Northwood Country Club. At 5 p.m., registration will open for the TUNE Run/Walk at the Northwood Theatre Club with the event following at 5:30 p.m. From 5 to 7 p.m. there will be a pool party for children in grades K-12 featuring music, games and food at the Northwood swimming pool.

There will be a beer garden for adults opening at 6 p.m. while the Northwood Community Center hosts a root beer garden for children.

Cherry Gun will be the entertainment for the beer garden and will take the stage at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s activities begin at 7 a.m. with breakfast at the Methodist church. The softball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. at Swensrud Park and games are scheduled to continue at 9 a.m. Sunday as well.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. Following the parade, inflatables, Half Pint the Clown and other activities will be hosted at the Worth County Fairgrounds. These activities include bingo, the Lions duck pond, a pedal pull and bean bag and horseshoe tournaments.

Both the beer garden and the root beer garden are scheduled to reopen at 6 p.m. Angel Val will perform at the beer garden at 8 p.m. and will be followed by Rhino, who will take the stage at 9 p.m.

A fireworks show will cap off the night at 10 p.m. at the Northwood Airport.

2 p.m.: The Miss, Mister, Junior Miss, Junior Mister, Little Miss and Little Mister Northwood Pageant and Citizen Awards presentation, shelter house

3 p.m.: Lions Club duck pond, Worth County Fairgrounds

3 p.m.: Pedal pull, shelter house

3 p.m.: Bean bag tournament, Worth County fairgrounds

3 p.m.: Horseshoes tournament, Swensrud Park

6 p.m.: Beer garden opens
