Man loses control of motorcycle in gust of wind

AUSTIN — An Albert Lea man was injured Saturday night after he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle in a gust of wind and went off the road on Interstate 90 in Austin.

Donald G. Tomlinson, 54, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Tomlinson was wearing his helmet.

The report stated Tomlinson was driving eastbound on I-90 on a 2002 Harley-Davidson Roadster when he lost control of the bike under Sixth Street Northeast.

No alcohol was detected.

The crash took place at 6:24 p.m.

The Austin Police Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.

Authorities are encouraging residents to practice safety while riding motorcycles, as motorcycle fatalities are up across the state this year.
