Against Belmond-Klemme, the Bulldogs took all three games by double-digit margins: Games 1 and 2 were 25-13, and Game 3 was 25-11.

Lake Mills coach Jim Boehmer said the win was a great team effort.

“If I had to give out a game ball, I’d have to cut it up eight different ways,” he said.

Madison Shifflett and Lexi Groe led the Bulldogs at the net with eight kills each. Hailey Borgmeyer contributed six kills, and both Cede Byrnes and Brianna Smith hit four each.

“I was very happy with our tempo tonight offensively,” Boehmer said. “We were able to stay in the system because we did a great job of handling the first ball tonight.”

Setter Kelsea Heintzman racked up 23 assists and was 15-of-16 serving. Both Shifflett, 9-of-9, and Emily Orban, 17-of-17, had perfect serving records.

Lake Mills had a hitting efficiency of .304 and was 73-of-77 serving as a team with 13 ace serves.

“At the serving line, our girls were very efficient and they still stayed aggressive,” Boehmer said. “All of our girls are aggressive at the line and really want to be a weapon with the ball in their hand.”

Boehmer cited his team’s strong rotation as the driving force behind its success so far.

“I’m really proud of that team,” he said. “Nobody’s a weakness. That’s what you want as a coach.”

Next, Lake Mills will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Garrigan in Algona, Iowa.
