Permaculture enthusiasts from all over the Midwest will descend on Harmony Park Music Garden this weekend for a permaculture convergence known as Gathering of the Guilds.

Gates open at noon on Friday at the park, 79503 298th St., near Geneva. Cost is $55 in advance or $65 at the door. Cost includes three nights of camping along with eight prepared meals. Limited RV sites are also available for $25.

The gathering is expected to offer local permaculturists, farmers, gardeners, activists andothers a chance to spend a weekend in sharing skills and making connections. Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against, nature. The philosophy aims to create a societal system that is synergetic with the earth’s natural ecosystems. It focuses on producing an ecologically-sound and regenerative system that can support itself and life indefinitely — whether it be plants, animals or people.

The event runs through Monday.

Next weekend, Harmony Park Music Garden will present one of its biggest events of the year known as the Shangri-La music festival by Wookiefoot.
