Lake Mills woman, 3 others injured in crash

A Lake Mills resident and three others were transported to the hospital after a three-car crash Saturday morning in Mankato.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Kia Optima, driven by Duane C. Krueger of Mankato, was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was heading southbound on Highway 22 when it veered off the road to the left and struck a northbound GMC Terrain, driven by Connie L. Erdner, 53, of Wells.

The Volkswagen then reportedly continued south and struck a northbound GMC Acadia, driven by Tanya R. Hengesteg, 39, of Lake Mills, according to the State Patrol.

Hengesteg and Megan L. Knutson, 12, a passenger in the vehicle, reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Passengers in the Acadia, Kelly A. Kloster, 44, of Leland, Iowa; Kenna B. Vanek, 12; Leah M. Moen, 11; and Jadyn E. Hengesteg, 12, reportedly suffered no injuries and weren’t transported.

Lindy A. Brekken, 12, a passenger in the Acadia, reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and wasn’t transported.

Erdner reportedly wasn’t transported.  The passenger in the Terrain, Sandra J. Leesch, 58, of Wells, reportedly suffered no injuries and wasn’t transferred.

Krueger was reportedly taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the crash and everyone was reportedly wearing seatbelts.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by Eagle Lake Police Department, Mankato Police Department, Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Department, Mankato Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance.

 

1 injured in rollover near Geneva

An Ellendale man was injured early this morning after a vehicle rollover on Interstate 35 near Geneva.

Michael J. Foster, 41, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the State Patrol.

Reports stated Foster was driving a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale southbound on I-35 near milemarker 21, when he lost control, went into the ditch and rolled over.

Foster was wearing his seatbelt, and it is unknown if alcohol was a factor, according to the State Patrol.

The crash took place at 5:42 a.m.
