COLUMBIA HEIGHTS — State investigators are in Columbia Heights gathering evidence in a fatal officer-involved shooting.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Tuesday two officers shot a man with a weapon after he refused orders to show his hands. The officers had responded to a report of a person with a gun at a business in Columbia Heights about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police said it was a housekeeping business.

The BCA said officers encountered the suspect in a hallway inside the main entrance. The BCA said emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and autopsy. Authorities said no one else was injured.
