Rain and high gusts of wind expected from storm

Freeborn County is under a wind advisory starting tonight and lasting until Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A powerful storm system is expected to bring high winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph.

The high wind warning is located southwest of a line from Redwood Falls to Mankato and then south to the Iowa border.

Other counties included in the advisory are Waseca and Steele counties.

The advisory begins at 9 p.m. today and runs through 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Weather Services advised motorists to use extra caution as driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

The storm is also expected to bring widespread rain today, which will taper off Thursday, with colder air moving into the region Thursday night and Friday.

Chance of precipitation today is 100 percent with new rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. An additional three-fourths to one inch is possible Wednesday night.

Sunny skies will return for Friday with a high expected near 41.
