The country has been inundated with news about this election, and this week the country will turn to us to take an active role in the process to determine our next president.

In Minnesota, we do that through precinct caucuses.

Both the Republican and DFL parties will meet separately to discuss political platforms and then choose their preferred candidate.

Registration for the Freeborn County DFL Party caucus begins at 6 p.m. at the Eagles Club. Anyone 16 and older who considers themselves a part of the party can participate, but only people who are 18 and eligible to vote by Nov. 8 may cast a ballot that night.

The caucus meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

The Freeborn County Republican Party caucus will begin with check-ins at 6 p.m. at Southwest Middle School. There will be an informational meeting at 7 p.m. and then people will be divided into precincts for a straw poll where people can share their presidential preference.

We encourage you to get involved. Help in the nomination process for each party.
