Memorial services for Joan M. Becker of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, Michigan.

Joan died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. She was 77.

Joan was born Feb. 5, 1939, in Glenville, the daughter of Ernest A. and Hannah H. (Granham) Kabrud. She attended public school in Albert Lea. She resided in the Albert Lea area most of her life. She was married to Gordon Becker for over 25 years. He died in 2002.

Joan had been employed as a waitress for various restaurants over the years, worked for Land O’Lakes Co. and the Minnesota Highway Department building interstate 90 across southern Minnesota.

She enjoyed bowling, cooking and baking — she loved to share what she baked, crocheting, animals and feeding the birds. Joan loved to have coffee parties with her friends.

She is survived by her children David Lincoln of Traverse City, Michigan, Jerry (Mary) Hulburt of Otsego, Michigan, Michael Hulburt of Rochester, Cindy (Thomas) Wood of Wells, Jason (Liz) Hulburt of Albert Lea, Debra Doest of Cooper, Michigan, and Gordon Becker of Cooper. There are 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernie (Laurine) Kabrud of Albert Lea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon, and sisters Patricia McGuire, Betty Goodman, Doris Thompson, Marion Hintz and June Haugerud.
