Maurine Lutteke

Maurine Lutteke

Maurine was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Alden, the daughter of Magnus and Pearl (Anderson) Rasmussen. She attended the rural country school and was a graduate of Alden High School.  Maurine married Martin Lutteke Dec. 23, 1941, and to this union four children were born. They farmed in the Walters and Wells areas. Martin died in 1982. In 1987, Maurine moved into Wells.

Maurine’s favorite place to be was in the kitchen. She loved to cook and bake. Many cups of coffee were enjoyed around her kitchen table. Maurine was a lady of many talents. She did cake decorating for many years, until it interfered with fishing trips to Northern Minnesota with Martin.  She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, sewing clothing for her daughters and herself, and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She hand quilted the quilts and every stitch was a stitch of love.

Maurine loved to play cards — especially Bridge and Pfeffer —and continued to do so at The Shepherd’s Inn, her home for six years. She was also a very competitive Scrabble player.  Maurine was active on the funeral committee and chairman of her church circle at Good Shepherd Lutheran church for many years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Judy Orvedal of Blue Earth, Raymond (Alma) Lutteke of Cypress, Texas, and Susan (Tim) Rollenhagen of Wells; nine grandchildren Todd (Shelly) Lutteke, Tami (Joel) Caldwell, Kaprice (Jeff) Schultz, Christopher (Angie) Schreiber, Tracy (Tim) Blagg, Nathan Lutteke, Martin Lutteke, Joshua (Jill) Rollenhagen and Paul (Jill) Rollenhagen; 18 great-grandchildren, Brooke, Travis, Whitney, Cody, Matt, Taylor, Brayden, Kiera, McKenna, Mason, Sydney, Eli, Kelsey, Samantha, Peyton, Kayle, Charlie and Sophie; one great-great-granddaughter, Rowan; sister, Elaine (Donald) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Jane (John) Brown; sister-in-law, Rosalie Rasmussen; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; son, Gordie; great-grandson, Joseph Keller; brother, Harley Rasmussen; sister, Ora Schmidt; sons-in-law David Schreiber and John Orvedal; and many other relatives.
