One night after winning a soccer match on a penalty kick, Albert Lea’s Rachel Rehnelt was in the same position Tuesday night against Rochester John Marshall.

With the score 1-0 late in the second half, Rochester John Marshall was called for a hand ball inside the box, which meant an automatic penalty kick for the Tigers.

Rehnelt lined up to take it, slowly tracing her steps back until she was comfortable.

The previous night, she beat the goalie in the upper left part of the goal. Her shot was so precise, the goalie could hardly move her head before ball was in the net.

Again, she put a great strike on the ball. This time she tried the top right corner. It would have tied the game, had goalkeeper Zoe Zanella not made incredible save. She dove and deflected the ball, as it bounced off her hands and the top of the goal, and then back into play.

The Tigers didn’t create any threatening opportunities in the closing moments, and wound up losing the match, 1-0.

The loss gives the Tigers a record of 3-3 on the season.

Albert Lea will wrap up its week filled with games when it travels to Rochester Mayo Thursday.

Start time for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
