Season ends for baseball Tigers

Joe Sczublewski added up the missed opportunities, and it took him a while.

There were seven stranded baserunners and a blown 5-1 lead in the first game, 10 left on base in the second - the kind of numbers that can mean the end of the season for a team in the playoffs.

It's what happened Monday for Sczublewski's Albert Lea Tigers, who lost 6-5 to Eagan and 5-0 to Northfield in Section 1AAA Baseball Tournament.

"That first game kind of took the wind out of our sails," said Sczublewski. "We were cruising along and let it get away from us in the sixth inning. Apparently, it was hard to rebound from that one."

Isaiah Parry, Andy Drenth and Alan Attig all had two hits against Eagan, with Isaac Walton, Adam Highum and David Dahl adding one apiece. Walton pitched a complete game, giving up two earned runs; he walked a season-high eight and struck out seven.

Drenth and Dahl both had two hits in the Northfield game. Attig and Walton each had one. Parry pitched the first five innings and took the loss.

The Tigers finished with a record of 8-13.
