Anderson to challenge Callahan

Published Friday, June 28, 2002

Irene Anderson, the Secretary of the Freeborn County Administrator, will challenge incumbent County Recorder Kelly Callahan in this fall's elections.

Being a county employee for 17 years, Anderson emphasized her familiarity with the county's business and employees.

With her experience in the administration and interaction with county commissioners, Anderson said she has a clear idea about how crucial decisions are made in the local government.

"The recorder's job affects a lot of people," said Anderson. She pledged to improve the efficiency of the service and reduce filing congestion by employing her computer literacy and management skills acquired through the county job and a woodcraft business she operates at home.

Anderson, 49, is a mother of three with five grandchildren in Riceland Township. Before working for the county, she had farmed for 13 years.
