Eleanor G. Haukoos, 87, Conger

Funeral services for Eleanor G. Haukoos, age 87, of Conger, will be on Monday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. The Rev. William Greaver will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Walters Cemetery in Walters.
She died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at her home in Conger of natural causes.
Eleanor was born May 2, 1915, in Moorland, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Albina (Federlick) Carlson. Eleanor graduated from Emmetsburg, Iowa, High School in 1933 and Normal College. She moved to Walters where she worked for Art Ludtke at his cafe, then worked for Hank and Arvilla Reinlasoder.
She married Joseph Haukoos on Aug. 31,1935, in Albert Lea. They farmed for five years near Northwood, Iowa, and moved back to Walters and lived on the Haukoos farm. They later moved to Conger where she worked for Barbara Babbitt. She also worked as a meat cutter at the Mansfield Store, and at Montgomery Ward in Albert Lea. She enjoyed making afghans, reading books and magazines, fishing, cooking, baking, dancing, playing solitaire, and being with family and friends.
Eleanor was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the WELCA, and Pricilla Circle. She was also a member of the Conger Senior Citizens and the Conger Women's Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons: Larry (wife Rosalie) Haukoos of DeLand, Fla., and Steve (wife Jane) Haukoos of Alden; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Mark (wife Kathy) Haukoos and their children, Garrett and Rachael, of Black Earth, Wis., Dana (wife Kris) Haukoos of Orlando, Fla., Michelle (husband Ross) Becker of Thornton, Colo., and
Heather and Gina Haukoos of Alden; one brother, Eugene Carlson of Hawaii; and numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2000; and one brother, Don Carlson.
