Funeral service for Darlene B. Adams of Hayward, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Darlene died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. She was 68 years old.

Darlene was born Aug. 12, 1934 in Mason City, Iowa to John and Alberta (Everhart) Berding. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Grafton, Iowa. She graduated from Grafton High School. Darlene was united in marriage to Richard Adams in Mason City, Iowa. She lived in both Des Moines and Mason City, Iowa, before moving to Alden in 1969. Darlene later resided in Hayward. Darlene was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Alden. She worked as a waitress for Club 90, Alden and Hayward Cafe, Hayward. Darlene's hobbies included gardening, reading, crocheting, cooking, fishing, traveling, doilies, feeding birds, growing flowers, Aggravation, cribbage, Scrabble and bingo. But her real joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Darlene is survived by four children: Randy Adams and special friend Judy, of Albert Lea, Sherri Adams of Hayward, Ronald Adams and his wife Paula of Albert Lea and Lisa Adams and fianc Robert Mortenson of New Richland; nine grandchildren: Stephani and Stacia; Amanda, Bryce and Chelsea; Ashley, Jamie, Chad and Carrie. Two great-grandchildren: Jacob and Colby; six brothers: Herman "Bud" Berding and his wife Prudy of Mason City, Iowa, LeRoy Berding and his wife Caroline of Mason City, Iowa, Benny Berding and his wife Muriel, of Mason City, Iowa, Roger Berding and his wife Sharon of Plymouth, Iowa, Johnny Berding and his wife Marge of Plymouth, Iowa, Darrel Berding and his wife Carol of Mason City, Iowa; four sisters: LaVonne Blackmer and her husband Dean of Mason City, Iowa, Bonnie Reyerson and her husband Harold of Alden, Shirley Berding of Mason City, Iowa and Lorraine Sailor and friend Craig Brackey of Albert Lea; special friend Gordon Olson of Wells; sister-in-law: Elaine Berding of Mason City, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and her special cat Kitty Kal.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; son Richard Adams Jr., daughter Juli Adams; brothers: Larry and Dale sister: Beverly Calicchia and sister-in-law: Ginny Berding.

Darlene will be greatly missed be her family and friends. Blessed be her memory.
