For first time this season, Tigers aren't first

NORTHFIELD - The undefeated run ended for the Albert Lea High School boys' golf team.
The Tigers, 5-0 in dual meets and winners of the New Prague Invitational, finished fourth among eight schools in Thursday's Northfield Invitational.
The host team won with 316 strokes for 18 holes at Northfield Golf Club, followed in the top four by Apple Valley with 321, Rosemount 325 and Albert Lea 328. Austin, Burnsville, Mankato West and Richfield also competed.
"It was a tough course, the toughest course we've played all year," said Tigers coach Matt Addington.
Ben Jones shot an 81 to lead the Tigers. Ross Stadheim and Alex Lair both carded an 82, Matt Bennett 83, Adam Elseth 85 and Beau Larson 89.
In terms of pure numbers, Addington said it was a disappointing day for the Tigers. But it was not without some bright spots.
"I think the guys felt pretty good about some of the things they did today," said Addington. "We put together some good runs of holes. It's not discouraging in that we don't know what happened to our game. We've had six matches in 10 days, with not much time to practice. The guys are tired. Now, we have one match a week until Big Nine and section, and that will be good for us. We can start practicing again, work on the things we need to work on."
The Tigers have a week to prepare for their next action Thursday, May 6 at Faribault.
