GLENVILLE - The Glenville-Emmons American Legion baseball team saved its best for last.

After struggling through much of the regular season, G-E won two of three games in the sub-district tournament before ending the year with a 4-2 loss to Kasson.

"We played some pretty good ball at the end of the season," said coach Louie Toulouse. "We look forward to next spring when we have almost everyone coming back."

The G-E Legion, which won its opening sub-district game, dropped to 1-1 in the double-elimination tournament with a 7-2 loss at top-seeded Stewartville.

Justin Flattum was 2-for-3 with a double while Garrett Davis, Mike Yocom and Wade Flattum added one hit each. Alex Hansen gave up six earned runs in six innings striking out five and walking two.

The team bounced back to beat New Richland 9-2 at Dodge Center.

Alex Hansen led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Devin Kaasa went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Josh Kluender hit a two-run home run, Yocom a two-run double. Justin Flattum had one hit. Michael Greibrok struck out six and walked two while pitching a three-hitter.

Next was the loss to Kasson.

Wade Flattum was 2-for-3 with a triple. Yocom also tripled. Adding one hit apiece were Kaasa, Greibrok and Hansen. Kaasa took the pitching loss.
