After a strong tournament performance Thursday, the Albert Lea High School boys' golf team crushed visiting Fairmont in a nonconference dual meet at Green Lea Golf Course Friday.
Scoring for the Tigers were co-medalists Matt Bennett and Ben Jones with rounds of 78. Beau Larson fired a 79 followed by Ben Billat, 82, Mike Larson 84 and Jon Breuer 90, giving Albert Lea a total of 317 to Fairmont's 358 for 18 holes
"It was a pretty solid round for us," said coach Matt Addington. "Our top three guys are very steady and they're shooting in the seventies. That's what I expect. We're definitely improving and that is the direction that we want to be going."
The victory improved Albert Lea's record to 18-4 overall.
The junior varsity squad also had a nice outing, not only defeating Fairmont's JV, (407) but also shooting a better round than the opponent's varsity with a 339.
Casey Bowman was the medalist with an 81. Alex Lair, Jared Bowman, Tyler Brackey, Grant Stadheim and Luke Michaels also competed for the Albert Lea JV.
The Tigers play Tuesday at Rochester John Marshall.
