The Tiger boys are convincing winners

The Albert Lea boys’ hockey team downed Princeton 7-1 Thursday at the Rochester Kiwanis Tournament.
The Tigers got power play goals from Adam Royce and Chris Dokken to go up 2-0 after one period. Albert Lea would put the game away in the second scoring five more times.
Mark Walton, Jared Bowman, Evan Hegwood and Mitch Sorenson all scored with Walton getting a pair and Hegwood’s tally coming on the power play.
Ben Waalkens got the win in goal for the Tigers, stopping 15 shots while the Tigers rattled off 51.
A.L. is back in action today when they play Spring Lake Park at 3 p.m.
The Tiger girls’ squad fell to No. 16 Blaine 5-2 in their first game at the Austin tournament.
Albert Lea was tied at 1-1 in the first after Madi Passingham scored off a rebound, but Blaine would score two times in the final 30 seconds of the period to go up 3-1.
Jenna Christensen scored an unassisted goal in the second, but that is as close as the Tigers would get.
