Tour of homes is on tap for weekend

There's no place like home, and on Saturday, there's no place like historic homes when the Albert Lea Association of University Women hosts its historic tour of homes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $13 in advance from AAUW members, Freeborn Lumber, Ben's Floral & Frame Designs, Celebrations Party & Gifts, Doyle's Hallmark, Chamber of Commerce, Thorne Crest Retirement Community and KATE Radio. Tickets are $15 the day of the tour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Albert Lea Civic Theatre.
There are seven homes on the tour, five of which are more than 100 years old.
Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, Sept. 29
- The Albert Lea Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the garage under the library off Fountain Street.
- The Pelican Breeze will hold a pizza cruise at 6 p.m. Reservations are needed; call 383-2630 by 6 p.m.
- Albert Lea Community Theatre will present “Honky Tonk Angels” at 7:30 p.m. at the Albert Lea Civic Theatre. For tickets, call the box office at 377-4371.
Saturday, Sept. 30
- The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open in the parking lot at the corner of North Broadway Avenue and Water Street from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Northbridge Mall will host an ornament, doll and collectible show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Doll appraisals will be available for $2 per doll.
- The Albert Lea Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to noon in the garage beneath the library off Fountain Street.
- The Pelican Breeze will host a public cruise at 7 p.m.
- Albert Lea Community Theatre will present “Honky Tonk Angels” at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, call the box office at 377-4371.
Sunday, Oct. 1

The Albert Lea Sons of Norway Lodge will host a Norwegian roll pancakes breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, ham, parsley potatoes and lingonberries. Cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children and kids under 5 eat free.
- The Pelican Breeze will host a public cruise at 2 p.m.
