Warren Christenson, 86, Albert Lea

A fellowship gathering for Warren J. Christenson of Albert Lea will be held at noon Monday in Bethany Hall, First Lutheran Church with a graveside service to follow at Graceland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Reggie Klindworth will officiate All friends and relatives of Warren are welcome to attend. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea area veterans groups.

Warren died on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 86 years old.

Warren was born June 4, 1922, in Glenville, the son of Nels and Frances Christensen. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on June 9, 1941, at Fort Snelling. He participated in the Central Burma and India Burma battles and campaigns. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1945, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.

Warren was employed by the Midway Machine Shop in Albert Lea for many years, worked for his father as an auto mechanic and his last employment was at the Albert Lea campus of Riverland College as an industrial mechanics instructor. He was also asked to design and build the structure that still stands on the campus of Riverland College.

Warren loved to spend his time building and flying airplanes, woodworking, and the giving of his time kept him in touch with many people. One of his favorite times of the day was having coffee and sometimes lunch with a great group of guys at the Northbridge Mall.

Warren is survived by his brother Roger (Bud) Christenson of Oregon; his nephew and caregivers Roger and Karen Christenson; and many other nieces and nephews.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude (Elmer) Peterson and Merle (Orville) Stiles; and one brother, Foster Christenson.

Warren will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
