Albert Lea girls’ swimming falls to Mankato West

The Albert Lea girls’ swimming team lost 94-84 to Mankato West Tuesday.

Gracie Thomas won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.28 and Amanda Walters finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.92.

Katie Walechka won diving with a score of 132.55.

The Scarlets had a winner place eight of the nine events to pick up the win in the dual meet.

The 200 free relay team of Walters, Thomas, Bria Schrieber and Galen Schulz finished second with a time of 1:50.99, behind the winning time of 1:45.55 from the team of Lexi Tolzmann, Hannah Hankins, Erika Roust and Katie Boswell.

The 200 medley relay team of Walters, Thomas, Schulz and Amy Horejsi took second with a time of 2:02.05 while Mankato West finished with a time of 2:01.

GREAT job girls! The first meet of the season and our team has low numbers in comparison with younger girls than earlier years. Let's keep improving throughout the season and this will be a great team to beat in the years to come.
