First Lutheran Church Women of Albert Lea

First Lutheran Church Women of Albert Lea met for a brunch program and business meeting at 9:15 a.m Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Bethany Hall.
Jeanette Olson provided prelude piano music as guests gathered. Co-president Cathy Carter welcomed all and led singing of the table prayer. Devotions were led by Tep Chirstianson.
Marge La France introduced guest musicians, Kelli Hanson and Mikaela Pierson, who performed vocal selections accompanied by Diane Haeney.
Kathy Bennett introduced the program, “Sheriff Department K-9 Dog,” given by officer Tim Bennett and his highly trained police dog.
Co-president Julie Tonder conducted the business meeting. Reports from the Triennial ELCA Women Gathering held in Salt Lake City were given by attendees Bonnie Schneider, Cathy Carter, Marge La France and Sharon Johnson. The 2011 Triennial Gathering will be held in Spokane, Wash. Bonnie Schneider reminded members that items are needed to fill the Lutheran World Relief Health and School kits for Oct. 4 pick up.

Church Women United Mission Study Day at Trinit Lutheran Church, Friday, Sept. 4, at 9:15 a.m.
Lutheran World Relief Van will be parked in front of First Lutheran for loading Saturday, Oct. 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The September FLCW meeting will be held Sept. 10 at 1:15 p.m. in Bethany Hall. Pioneer FLCW members and past presidents will be honored. The program, “My Mayberry Friends,” will be given by Gary Schindler. Everyone is welcome.
