ALHS nominates two for ExCEL award

Albert Lea High School has nominated Samantha Petersen and Jeff Bodensteiner for the ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) Award.
The ExCEL Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. It is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors. Students who are active in fine arts and/or athletic activities who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens in their community are eligible for the award.
Petersen is a three-year letter winner in tennis and is a student manager for the track teams. She is active in choir, show choir, and chorale. She is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Link Crew and works on the student newspaper. She is an “A” honor roll student with a 4.0 GPA
Outside of school she teaches Sunday school, serves as a math tutor, participates in 4H.
Bodensteiner is a two-year letter winner in tennis and won the academic achievement award both years.
Bodensteiner is also active in concert choir, and helps with lights and sound for the fall musical. He is a member of National Honor Society, Link Crew, and student council.
In his spare time Bodensteiner volunteers at church, Oak Park Place Assisted Living, the garden club, and has been a student representative for the District Curriculum Committee for the last three years. He is an “A” honor roll student.
