Here are local and area highlights in history for Dec. 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — St. Paul Clothiers was having a grand opening celebration sale at its men’s store inside the Northbridge Mall.
1977 — An editorial said, “Some of the walking habits of people in this community are appalling.” The comment was on the continuing problems between pedestrians and motorists.
1947 — A rail carload of corn had been collected by three area Lutheran churches and would be sent to Europe as part of a program sponsored by Lutheran World Relief.
