St. Peter 67, USC 41

Published Wednesday, December 3, 2008

The United South Central girls’ basketball team fell in its opener 67-41 to St. Peter.

Ciara Christenson led the Rebels (0-1) with 12 points. Val Sahr had five points and 12 rebounds and Danielle Koestler and Taylor Allis added seven points each.

USC didn’t have an answer for 6-foot guard AnnMarie Brown. Brown scored 27 points and created matchup problems for the Rebels with her size and quickness.

The game had started out well for USC as it took a 10-6 lead early, but St. Peter went on a 17 point run to take a big lead.

The Rebels had a tough time shooting as they only had 11 field goals in the game, but they did go 17-for-27 from the free throw line.
