Here are some local and area highlights in history for Dec. 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — Two members of the Albert Lea High School Danceline, Cindy Cafourek and Denise Citurs, would be part of the group of 100 girls participating in the half-time of the Holiday Bowl game in San Diego, Calif., on New Year’s Eve.
1977 — The Freeborn County Bar Association asked that the position of county attorney be given a full-time employment status. Bob Goldman was then serving as county attorney on a part-time basis.
1967 — The School District 241 board voted to close the Manchester School at the end of the school year. The students would then be bused to the new Lakeview School.
